Eligible employees are recommended to book appointments with their local participating pharmacy store as vaccinations are available on a first come first served basis. There are approximately 800+ stores participating in the programme across England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland.

The vaccination

  • If you are allergic to some antibiotics (neomycin or polymyxin) then you should not have the vaccine.
  • If you are allergic to eggs, please discuss with your Healthcare Professional as the flu vaccine they are administering may be egg free.
  • If you are ill or have a high temperature, you should delay having the vaccine until you have recovered; the Healthcare Professional will advise you about this.
  • If you are travelling overseas, you may receive other vaccines at the same time as the ‘flu vaccine. Consult with your doctor first, if you have a poor immune response (immunodeficiency or taking medicines affecting the immune system.) Your doctor will decide if you should receive the ‘flu vaccine.
  • If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medication. Flu vaccines can be used in all stages of pregnancy.  Larger datasets on safety are available for the second and third trimester, compared with the first trimester; however, data from worldwide use of flu vaccines do not indicate the vaccine would have harmful effects on the pregnancy or the baby. The vaccine may be used during breast-feeding.

Handy tips for the flu season:

  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing and use a tissue when you can
  • Bag and bin your dirty tissues straight away
  • Remember to wash your hands regularly
  • Clean your desk or work surface with cleaning wipes

THIS VACCINATION PACKAGE IS PROVIDED BY BUPA. IT SITS ENTIRELY SEPARATELY FROM THE PARTNER COMPANY PRIVATE MEDICAL INSURANCE CONTRACTS.
